Tchotchke Table

2011
Tackling tackiness.
Small toys, gewgaws, knickknacks, baubles, lagniappes, trinkets, or kitsch.  No matter how you word it, tchotchkes have a certain stigma attached to them.  What if we could make them an object of desire.  That was the goal of this piece.

Each form, like the bowling ball, is cast and then reassembling in columns to form four legs of a dining table.  The entire piece is finished in glossy white.  This gives it a porcelain-like appearance.  A juxtaposition of rich polish and ordinary objects equals a true objet d'art.  A limited edition black version is available with gold electroplating.

Dimensions are 120x48x31"h.
